Bukayo Saka has withdrawn from England’s squad to take on Finland in the UEFA Nations League fixture.
The incident took place just weeks after Cheptegei, 33, had taken part in the marathon at the Paris Olympics, where she was placed 44th.
The England captain has a history of ankle complaints but has only missed two matches for Bayern with injury since arriving in the summer of 2023.
